According to NBC News on March 12, a containment unit containing radioactive material has gone missing in Texas, USA. The local government said Wednesday that it hopes to find the seal as soon as possible to avoid injuries. The device was lost while workers were shopping for lunch when the truck was parked near a restaurant in Houston, Texas Department of Health Services spokeswoman Laura Leah said. The department has searched a five-mile area north of the restaurant and contacted nearby pawn shops and scrap metal recycling stations, so far without success. Laura said the device is a portable X-ray machine used to look at hidden structures, commonly found in construction and the oil industry. The entire unit is protected by multiple seals and stored in a steel outer packing box marked with radiation. The device doesn't pose much of a threat until it's been taken apart, but if someone does open the case, it's very dangerous and could result in the loss of fingers.
