Eleven European Union member states agreed Tuesday to step up cooperation on nuclear energy.
A statement from the countries involved said: On the occasion of the informal Council of Energy Ministers in Stockholm, ministers and high representatives of 11 Member States - Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Hungary, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia - and Slovenia met this morning with the Commission and the Swedish Presidency, They reaffirmed their desire to strengthen European cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
The ministers agreed to promote closer cooperation between their national nuclear departments to ensure optimal cooperation across supply chains and to explore joint training schemes and industrial projects.
Nuclear power is one of many tools to meet our climate targets, generate baseload power and ensure security of supply, the statement said.
