One of the eu's tools for energy independence is nuclear power, said MATS Nordberg, a Swedish mp from the Democratic Party, in comments to The Town Hall.  Restart shut down reactors and plan to build and start new ones. 
 
 
 
One tool to achieve energy independence, he said, is to restart the operations of nuclear reactors that have recently been shut down, and existing reactors, if possible, should continue to work.  We must also continue to plan for the opening of new nuclear reactors to make the EU more self-sufficient in the field of energy resources. 
 
 
 
Earlier, some MEPs and other European politicians declared the need for nuclear power in Europe to achieve energy independence. 
 
 
 
Sir Roger Gale, a Member of the British Parliament, supports the idea of nuclear power in the EU as a way to achieve energy independence. 
 
 
 
Matthias Musdorf, a Member of the Bundestag from Germany Choose, said he supported the expansion of nuclear power and energy independence in Europe. 
 
 
 
Martin Exner, a member of parliament from the Czech Republic's ruling party and a member of the European Integration and Security Policy Committee, stressed that the EU needs an energy supply plan that should include the construction of new gas and oil pipelines and the development of nuclear and renewable energy.  Eu politicians should communicate with voters and explain the need for such measures. 
 
 
 
Commenting on the eu's need to achieve energy independence, Member of the European Parliament Petras Auštrevičius said the EU should work with governments, business representatives and investors and ensure its technological aspects.
