Kony will supply nuclear fuel handling machines to Sweden'
release time:2022-06-01
Kony will supply replacement fuel processors for three reactor units at The Fusmark nuclear power plant, Sweden's largest power producer. The order is part of efforts to modernize the plant. The new machines are equipped with the latest Technology and operating interfaces from Kony to improve the productivity and safety of plant operations. The order was booked in April 2022.
The Fusmark nuclear power plant in Sweden, which is mainly owned by Vattenfall, is currently modernizing their facility to meet higher safety and environmental requirements, extend the life of the reactor and increase production. They chose Kony to update their fuel handling machines to support ongoing safety and production operations.
The new Kony fuel loader complies with all major international nuclear standards and incorporates a single fail-safe technology. The technology is designed to prevent load loss in the event of any single failure of the lifting system. Kony's safety and diagnostic systems continuously monitor the operation of the equipment, which improves the safety of fuel handling and the productivity of the plant.
The equipment will be used to move fuel assemblies between the reactor locations and fuel racks of the three units. The contract includes replacing all three fuel handling units over five years to ensure they are ready for scheduled refueling outages.
